I can’t wear my black dresses or tops because my dandruff is so bad. What will help it?

Try alternating anti-dandruff shampoos on different days that contain different active ingredients. Zinc pyrithione (found in Selsun and Head & Shoulders) has anti-yeast properties; ketoconazole (found in Nizoral) is an antifungal and anti-yeast; coal tar (in Neutrogena T/Gel) and selenium sulfide (in Selsun Blue Medicated and Head & Shoulders Clinical Strength) slow the production of skin cells; and salicylic acid (in Neutrogena T/Sal) scrubs the scalp. They all work in different ways, so they help attack the problem from different angles. Rotating these each time you wash may give you the best results. I also advise you wash your hair initially with a regular shampoo to remove dirt and grease, then wash again with an anti-dandruff shampoo, leaving it on for a bit, to help it penetrate better.
