I often think while us women are amazing at multi-tasking, sometimes we take it to extremes, which can be destructive to our lives.

Take Kylie Minogue, a woman who’s been at the top of her game for over 20 years and has overcome breast cancer. Yet her love life is in tatters again. Reports claim workaholic Kylie put her career before her relationship, which led to her split from model Andres Velencoso last month.

Choosing work over love is a massive decision – if your career means you never have a fulfilling relationship you could live to regret it. But likewise, if you put your dreams on hold for a man, you may also feel you’ve lost out.

Life is all about choices and the most important thing is to try to find a balance where you can feel happy and fulfilled in most aspects of your life. Here’s how to try to achieve this:

How to find the right balance

If your career demands that you work long hours, plan ahead and book a long weekend with your guy to spend some quality time together. After the break, come back to the office energised and eager to remind your boss how devoted you are.

Decide what you need most in your life to be happy and channel your efforts there. Put your desires in order of importance and, after you’ve accomplished one area, spend time exploring others.

Rather than worry about what you don’t have, appreciate what you do. Write a list of all the good things and people in your life and read it whenever you feel as though something is missing.
