Young mum ‘kidnapped and raped’ by man she met online

A man kidnapped his former girlfriend and took her to a caravan park miles away from her children, where he repeatedly raped her.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, met David Jeans, 34, online in January this year.

He wooed her, spinning lies about his health and they became a couple, eventually moving in together.

But it wasn't long before Jeans became jealous and angry towards the 28-year-old mum, convinced she was seeing someone else.

She left him in March but, after he constantly called and messaged her, she agreed to meet him in April.

He kidnapped her, and told her she would never see her children again. The woman told High Court in Glasgow: "He was saying, 'This is it, we'll go together. He was looking for a cliff to drive me over,

"He put the seatbelt around my neck and asked if I wanted to die."

Jeans took her to a caravan park 100 miles away from her home, where he raped her twice. She managed to escape the next morning.

The terrified woman revealed how Jeans threatened to cut her throat and burn down her house with her child inside.

Judge Michael O'Grady QC jailed Jeans for eight years, saying he 'bullied, terrified and raped' the young woman.

The woman continued: "I just know how lucky I am to be alive. When we first met, I thought he was a nice guy. But when that changed, I just wanted to get away from him."
