Young medic, 21, posts shock ‘I’m dying’ tweet after being shot in the neck

A volunteer medic tweeted 'I'm dying' to her followers after she was shot in the throat in the middle of the street.

Olesya Zhukovskaya, 21, is pictured clutching her throat as blood pours from the wound in her neck all over her medical uniform.

The young medic was hit in Kiev, Ukraine, whilst assisting those injured in the anti-government protests.

She reportedly lost consciousness shortly after posting the tweet.

About 20 minutes before she was shot, Olesya posted to her followers: 'We need your support. The carnage started this morning. It can turn worse later in the day.'

Thankfully, she took to the social network again today to tell followers: 'I live! Thank you to every who supported and prayed for me!'

She then added: 'Sorry to not answer calls, very painful to talk'

More than 70 people are believed to have died in the city on Thursday, with police accused of picking them off with sniper rifles. Up to 500 people were injured.

Protesters are calling for the resignation of their leader, President Yanukovych, who has increased ties with Russia whilst shunning a trade deal with Europe - something they believe will be detrimental to their country and freedom.
