X Factor: ‘Chloe Jasmine’s accent is real’ says singer’s mum

The mother of X Factor contestant Chloe Jasmine Whichello has defended her daughter after viewers accused the singer of ‘putting on’ her posh accent.

It has been revealed that Chloe Jasmine had elocution lessons whilst attending drama school, but her mum claims that her posh twang is ‘definitely real’.

Denise Whichello revealed to a UK newspaper: “When she was about 11, she attended Tina Witham's drama school and had speech lessons with her. That's where the accent comes from.”

Following Cheryl’s controversial decision to bring Chloe Jasmine through to the live shows, the judge told the Sun On Sunday: “I'm always thinking who could be a star. Chloe might divide opinion but once people get to know her you can't help but like her.”

Cheryl added: “She is mesmerising and just fascinating. I've never known anyone quite like her.”

Chloe’s mum agrees with Cheryl, telling The Mirror: “I know I'm her mother but she just has that special something, over the last couple of years she has been working successfully in London as a model but she has always loved singing.
