The poll of 4000 women by Baileys found that women begin to feel more at ease with themselves at this age.
It also found that nearly half of older women said they were “spirited” compared to those under 35.
Those over 35 chose marriage, life experience and family as the main influences in shaping their character.
'Younger women said friends, career prospects and money were the main focus in their lives'
Younger women said friends, career prospects and money were the main focus in their lives.
The findings also showed that women are now busier than ever, juggling 14 different roles in their daily lives - from wife, to mother, to stylist to socialite.
Single women were most likely to multi-task, with nearly all of those asked saying they manage multiple roles compared to just over three quarters of married women.
Expert on history and culture Tessa Dunlop said: “In the last 60 years women have seen their roles expand unrecognisably. More money in women's pockets and an increased degree of independence has provided more options. The female character has been revolutionised.”
The women polled picked Judi Dench and Helen Mirren as the most spirited and inspiring women of all time.
At an event hosted by the drinks company to celebrate the ‘spirit of women’ last month, Caitlin Moran described ‘spirited women’ as: “women who are unapologetically funny and cool, who are nailing it without going on about it and just being effortlessly awesome.”
