Tiffany Austin was recovering from a car accident and getting back in shape with her first workout at the gym.
However, her time exercising was cut short when, just fifteen minutes into her first workout, a Planet Fitness employee stopped her and told her she needed to cover up.
Speaking with KTVU Channel 2, she said: “She says, you know, ‘Excuse me, we've had some complaints. You're intimidating people with your toned body. So can you put on a shirt?’”
Tiffany was wearing a spaghetti strap tank top and capri pants with her midriff exposed, and she didn’t think her attire was out of line:
“I don’t feel like it’s anything crazy, but I mean you tell me if it’s burning your eyes.”
Apparently Planet Fitness — which bans spaghetti strap tops — actually keeps T-shirts on hand for people who they find inappropriately dressed.
But, while Tiffany embarrassedly waited for her T-shirt, ANOTHER employee approached her and told her that her clothing was out of line.
Feeling intimidated herself at this point, Tiffany decided to get her money back and cancel her membership at the gym advertised as the “Judgement Free Zone” whose policy bans “gymtimidation.”
Tiffany noted that the gym staff broke their own "no judgement" rules by criticising her body. A Planet Fitness spokesperson agreed, saying their actions "[were] not in line with the Planet Fitness policy whatsoever."
