Trainee fitness instructor Tysha Stapleton, 24, purchased a NutriBullet blended a week ago for £100, but by its second use it had stopped working.
When she tried to investigate the issue, taking the blender off the motor and trying to unscrew it, Tysha heard a band - and the blender exploded in her face.
Speaking to The Sun, the 24-year-old said that the device must have heated up and then exploded.
‘The pain was horrific. I could feel my skin burning.’
Terrifyingly, Stapleton says she thought she had gone blind in the immediate aftermath of the explosion, adding: ‘My skin was melting off my face.’
And despite the best efforts by doctors at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Tysha now thinks she will be scarred for life after the incident.
NutriBullet have said they won’t comment on the incident until it has been investigated, but did say: ‘We ensure the very highest quality standards are adhered to.’
