The truth, however, was horrifying.
“She had just met her, she saw that she had a baby, and Catherine Goins needed a baby"
Police soon discovered that her story was a lie concocted to cover up a disturbing abduction plan; she had murdered mum-of-two Natalia Roverts, 30, in a desperate bid to steal her children and raise them as her own.
Telling Roberts that she had some clothes that would be suitable for her 3-week-old baby, Goins lured the unsuspecting mum into her ex-boyfriend's home.
But, as soon as Roberts was inside the property, Goins allegedly shot her in the back of the head.

Catoosa County sheriff Gary Sisk said: “She had just met her, she saw that she had a baby, and Catherine Goins needed a baby.
"She lured [Natalia] there under the pretence of giving her some baby clothes for her newly born baby.
"Once at the residence, Natalia was going down a flight of stairs where Catherine Goins shot her in the back of the head with a .380-calibre handgun.”

Before fleeing the crime scene with the victim's two young children - a newborn baby and a 3-year-old - in tow, Goins allegedly tried to clean up the home and called her ex-boyfriend, Tony Richards, telling him she had shot someone inside his residence.
"We're calling it murder because that's what it is," Sheriff Sisks said. "She flat-out murdered her."
