Beauty salon manager Amanda Devey, like so many others, took part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in a bid to raise money for charity.

But, when mother Irene Vitali poured the ice cold water over her daughter's head, the shock sent Amanda running.
With water dripping from her and her bare feet, the 40-year-old mother-of-two ran into her kitchen and slipped.
Banging her head as she fell, she knocked herself unconscious.
When Amanda came around, she was slurring her speech and, after going to Southport Hospital in Mersyside to get checked, she was told she may have a broken neck.
She told The Metro: "I was knocked out for a few seconds and when I opened my eyes my mum was asking if I was ok.
"I had pins and needles all down my arms and when I went to speak blurred words came out. I had only had half a glass of wine, so I know it wasn’t that."

Luckily for Amanda, doctors established that it was a case of severe whiplash and she received the all clear.
"The hospital thought I might have broken my neck, but when the doctor examined me he said I had been very lucky and only had severe whiplash."
