Police have reported the 57-year-old Frenchwoman was found ‘scrunched up’ in a freezer on Tuesday, with suicide the most probable cause of death.

The victim left behind five letters to be read after her death. and in one she explained that she was “suffering from several diseases and from severe loneliness.”

Further reports state that a pathologist was on site and confirmed the death was in fact due to suicide, although this has not been officially confirmed.

Fire officers discovered the body on Monday, in the Paris suburbs, after her daughter became worried when she didn't hear from her.

After an extensive search of the woman's apartment proved unsuccessful, officers found her body "scrunched up in the freezer," a police source told AFP.

"She had shut herself in there to kill herself," the source added.

It is estimated the suicide rate in France is annually 220,000 people and exceeds the European average.
