It was just another day for Zoe Butler, 28, as she whipped up a spot of lunch for her children.
But, when she opened a can of tuna, she found herself face-to-face with a very strange little animal indeed.
"I opened the top of the lid and saw a purple-y thing, a gut sack or intestine — then I turned it round and pushed it with a fork and saw it looking back at me," she told The Nottingham Post.
"It's got like a spiny tail along the bottom."
As any well-thinking modern woman would, the anxious mum rushed to upload some photographs of the little monster to Twitter.
There's one of it cosily nestled inside the tuna flakes, staring up at her with big black eyes, and another of it apparently crawling along a kitchen towel.
Zoe wrote anxiously: "Can you tell me what this is? Nearly fed this to my children!
"From Princes tuna chunks can."
She made sure to attach a photograph of the strange critter; one of it looking up at her from its cosy position nestled inside the tuna flakes, another of it apparenty crawling along a kitchen towel.

Ew. We suddenly went right off our tuna sarnies…
Zoe, after recovering from her initial shock, contacted the company and sent them images of the animal.
They quickly responded and apologised, revealing that they think the alien-like critter is, in fact, a type of crab.
It will be sent to Princes so that they can investigate what happened.
