Some people go travelling to 'find themselves.'

Well, one woman did exactly that. Quite literally.

The woman (who has not been identified) was part of a coach trip to Iceland’s Eldgja canyon when she briefly nipped to the toilet to freshen up and put on a change of clothes.

According to the Toronto Sun, when the woman returned ‘her bus mates didn't recognise her.’

Those running the tour mistakenly thought the woman was missing when they couldn’t place her and set about searching for their ‘lost’ traveller.

The woman didn’t recognise her own description and joined the search party to ‘look for herself.’

Around 50 people reportedly joined the search party and the volunteers searched by foot and by vehicle.

Search organisers even had a coast guard helicopter ready to join in the search.

The search party continued well into the night and was called off at 3am when they came to the sobering realisation that their missing woman was, in fact, part of the search team and looking for herself.

The search party was called off and everyone retreated (probably with several red faces) after the ordeal.

Moral of the story? When travelling alone, make sure you don’t change your outfits too frequently during the day!
