William and Helen Taylor loved the Pirates of the Caribbean film series so much that they decided to dedicate the most important day of their lives to it - their WEDDING day.

The couple, from Glossop in Derbyshire, got hitched in Whitby, North Yorkshire, on Wednesday 11 October in front of 50 family members and friends - who were all dressed up as swashbucklers too!

Hilariously, the couple chose to toast their special day with rum - the traditional drink of pirates.

The couple, who have been together since 2010 after discovering a shared love for the Pirates films, spent just £1,000 on their wedding which included sword-arch guard of honour and a trip on a replica pirate ship in the North Yorkshire town.

William, 38, a freelance cameraman, said: "We just liked pirates and we wanted a chance to dress up – we wanted it to be fun, we watch lots of piratey things and wanted it to be a laugh.

"Whitby is our favourite place to travel to and thought if we're going to be by the sea, we will all dress as pirates and get a pirate ship. We had a really tight budget but my mother-in-law paid for the registry office, my dad paid for the pirate ship at about £140."

He added: "We were both dressed as pirates, all our wedding party were dressed as pirates and we built our costumes gradually. Most people hired theirs, we built ours from things from charity shops."

Fancy making your wedding dress out of bits from charity shops! That's one way to save money.

Helen, 49, is a school caretaker, and said: "A couple of years ago, we went up to Whitby for a weekend and the cottage we stayed in was called Pieces of Eight Cottage and that was pirate-themed.

"There was a treasure chest full of chocolate doubloons and bottle of Morgans rum each. That sealed it for us and we decided that if we ever got married we'd have to do it as pirates.

"Living in Derbyshire probably makes us the most landlocked pirates in the world."
