Beaming happily as they sign the wedding register, Amy and Ross look like any other loved-up couple on their big day.

But Ross was hiding a terrible secret – he’d been diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer and had just weeks to live.

Rather than cancel the wedding, the brave couple decided to keep the diagnosis a secret and carried on with their big day as normal.

Devastatingly, just four weeks later, in June 2014, Amy was left heartbroken when Ross died aged just 32.

Amy, 29, from Hooley, Surrey, tells Closer: “Ross was my soul mate. To lose him so early is beyond heartbreaking. We were so happy and were planning our future together. When we found out about the diagnosis – just a month before the wedding – it was a bolt out of the blue and our world fell apart. But we decided to keep it to ourselves and go ahead with the wedding so we could enjoy our special day, and it gave us something positive to focus on

“Losing Ross so soon after the wedding was devastating. Ross made me promise I’d live life to the full and I’m trying to. We froze his sperm so we could still have children. It’s not something I’ll do in the immediate future, but it’s nice to know it’s an option. I never thought I’d be planning my future alone.”
