Would you help a woman if you spotted her being attacked in the street?

While many of us would answer 'yes' in a heartbeat, it seems as if the reality is very different.

This shocking video has captured a controversial experiment, which aims to see how many of us really would step in to help a woman if we witnessed her being attacked in the street.

And the results were upsetting.

Watch it for yourself below:

Only four in twenty people stopped to offer the woman any assistance. Which means that sixteen others just turned a blind eye and walked on by.

Viewers on YouTube have responded angrily to the figures, with one person commenting:

"This is infuriating and heartbreaking. If you walk by something like this and don't step in, you're a pathetic coward."

Another added: "What is seriously wrong with people this days?"

However some were on the side of the passers-by, insisting that it is safer to walk past and ignore the situation.

One said: "I wouldn't help. Many heroes have been killed."

Another added: "You can't blame other people for being too afraid to risk their lives for someone that they know literally nothing about.

"Some people can help and some people just aren't built like that. Sadly."

Who do you agree with? Are you shocked nobody stepped in or do you agree it would be too dangerous to do so? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments Box below now.
