The American family found the pregnant shark washed up on a beach shore, but noticed movement in the shark's stomach.

Acting quickly, the footage shows a brave man cutting open the shark and discovering three young pups.

He is then seen carefully carried them one-by-one to the sea and releasing them into the sea.

While the clip might be on the graphic and gruesome side, the footage is remarkable as the pups appear to be healthy and well.

The rescuer is careful when handling the pups- which may be due to the fact that

sharks are born with a full set of teeth. Baby sharks 'hatch' within their mother and can stay inside them for up to two years.

They are abandoned after delivery and quickly swim away to avoid being eaten by their mothers.

Instinctively pups are fully independent and know how to survive immediately.

It is therefore unlikely that their beach birth and ‘handling’ will have any negative effects on the three born in this video.
