Ian Lee and Justin Delaney of BBC Three Counties Radio decided to go for a walk through Luton town, holding hands, to see what reaction they got.

They were shocked to discover how many people were uncomfortable with the idea of it.

In the clip they receive taunts, funny looks and a man even ushers his child away from them.

Eventually they catch up with a teenage boy who made a comment about the men holding hands.

They asked him what he thought, and he replied: “I thought it was disgusting… I just think it’s wrong for two men, I just think it’s disgusting in my opinion.”

He was with his mother, who seemed to dismiss his homophobia as part of being a teenager.

While she claimed she was not homophobic, the mother did insist she wouldn’t want ‘it shoved in her face’

At the end of the video, the hosts said: “I certainly felt uncomfortable. If I was a girl holding your hand there would be nothing.”
