At the beginning of the footage, we see the man in a street in China looking up as he notices the falling child.

The man, called Mr Li, throws his arms to catch the toddler and thankfully manages to catch him before he hit the ground, even despite the heavy rain.

According to reports, the baby was searching for his mother when he climbed onto the second-storey window ledge during the thunderstorm.

Before the baby fell, people rushed into the building to try and get him down. Others used sofas and cardboard boxes to try and cushion the toddler’s fall as Mr Li attempts to catch him.

Speaking afterwards, Mr Li said: “I didn’t think too much at the time. I was just afraid of failing to catch him. It was nothing but instinct to do so.”

At the end of the video, the toddler is placed in the arms of a woman, believed to be his mother.
