The huge shark attacked Steven Nobles while he was swimming for charity with 14 others at Manhattan Beach, Southern California on Saturday afternoon.

It is thought a fisherman had caught the shark in the area, and Mr Nobles, 40, was caught on camera by a group of people fishing off the pier.

At first, the group of people fishing didn’t realise that Mr Nobles had been bitten, and laughed about how close he was to the shark.

But his screams, along with seeing others dragging Mr Nobles back to shore, soon made them realise the almost-tragic events.

The report suggests that the shark was panicking about being caught on the fishing line when it attacked.

An eyewitness told local news: “There was blood everywhere and I realised something had gotten him. He was screaming the whole time and I understand why.

“I was just worried about getting this guy in and on the board so somebody could help.”
