Can you remember what you bought your teacher on her last day? Well, we bet you it won’t be beat what this primary school did.
When schoolteacher Margaret Gabica, 62, announced her retirement from St Julian’s Primary School in Newport, Wales, after 25 years, the pupils decided to give her the best possible send off by performing a surprise flashmob in the middle of the playground.
Gabica was left stunned and brought to tears as 350 pupils broke into a spontaneous dance to her favourite song, Losing You from the Lion King, during her last break time duty.
The pupils – aged from three to seven – had successfully managed to keep the routine a secret for three weeks with the help of their teachers who choreographed the routine.
Grandmother-of-one Mrs Gabica, from Cwmbran, Wales, said it was a “wonderful” surprise and that she was “overwhelmed” by the experience.
This school has certainly raised the bar when it comes to teacher appreciation, apparently flowers and chocolates just don’t cut it anymore!
