Is what we see really what we get? Or do our eyes have ways of playing tricks on us?

Every single year, women and children are exposed to violence and abuse. More than 3 million children witness domestic violence in their homes - and 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in their lifetimes.

But, because these tragedies unfold in private, victims of domestic abuse are some of the most difficult to protect. In fact, most domestic violence incidents are never reported.

Because the truth is… abuse can hide anywhere.

As VG themselves say: "We all have a right and an obligation to look for signals and dare to speak out, whether we are friends, neighbours, school teachers, health professionals or others.

"For it is only when we get the cases to light, we have an opportunity to help. VG is to be a watchdog of society, in tune with those who need it most."

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, whether it is physical or verbal, please seek help.

Safe Horizon and the National Domestic Violence Hotline are both very helpful resources - and they are always ready to listen, should you decide to speak up.
