It is every mother's worst nightmare; having your baby stolen before your very eyes.
And this horrifying video has captured that sense of dread perfectly, watching a man rush into a hospital maternity ward, grab a newborn baby from his mother's arms and shove it in a containment box, before disappearing.

It was, for the mother in this clip, nothing more than a bad dream - but PETA are keen to remind viewers that the nightmare is a reality for cows and calves everywhere.
They explain: "Normally when babies are born, their mothers will care for them, protect them, and watch them grow up. But for mother cows used by the dairy industry, their babies are often taken away within minutes and sold into the veal industry."

But why?
PETA say: "Because cows produce milk for the same reason why humans do: to feed their young. So cows have to give birth in order to keep producing the massive quantities of milk it takes to fill store shelves with cheese, ice cream, yogurt, and other dairy products.
"Both mother and baby will eventually end up in the slaughterhouse."

The video has been released in order to coincide with World Vegan Day, in a bid to encourage people to go vegan.
