Rory O'Neill, better known as drag queen Panti Bliss, stood up on a stage this weekend and made an emotional speech about the nature of homophobia.

"I don't hate you because you're homophobes… but I do sometimes hate myself"

According to Irish publication The Journal, the speech comes after Panti, as Rory, appeared on the Saturday night Show a few weeks earlier:

"He called out a number of public figures who he deemed homophobic because of their active campaigning to treat homosexuals differently.

"Those people threatened legal action against O'Neill and RTÉ (the national broadcaster) and a large sum of money was paid out [to a Catholic lobbying group] in settlement. Ms. Panti Bliss took to the stage of the national theatre to set the record 'straight'."

In this incredible speech, Panti Bliss has defended every single statement he made during that show, not to mention articulated which actions and intentions can be considered homophobic - not to mention the real life consequences of homophobia.

"I don't hate you because you're homophobes… but I do sometimes hate myself.

“I f*****g hate myself, because I check myself when I stand at pedestrian crossings.

“And sometimes, I hate you for doing that to me.”
