According to police, the couple were arguing over the cost of car repairs near their home in Houston, Texas.
HPD Investigator Rolando Saenz explained that the woman needed money from her husband to get her car, a blue Honda Civic, fixed.
He told KPRC-TV: "He was going to go get it fixed later on once he got more money, but she wanted it fixed now so she was demanding more money.”
Apparently the husband, growing annoyed, then tried to drive away from his wife, who was standing outside.
"As he was leaving, she came to driver's door, held onto the door, the husband drives away, where she slips and falls, and the husband runs over her," said Saenz.
Paramedics rushed the heavily-pregnant woman to hospital, but she tragically died from her injuries.
Doctors were able to successfully deliver her unborn baby; the tiny tot is just 36 weeks old, but is said to be in a stable condition.
The woman’s husband has not been arrested and is not a suspect, as police and eyewitnesses do not believe he ran her over on purpose.
"The witnesses at the scene did say he was crying, and he was calling for 911 for help," said Saenz.
