Mona Christensen was an investment risk advisor weighing nearly 18st when her partner of seven years dropped the bombshell that he no longer wanted the relationship.
'He said he didn't find me attractive anymore, and it was a body weight issue. He'd obviously been thinking about it for a long time' she said.
'At the same time, I knew I wasn't small and had changed a lot since we met. I'm a loyal, committed person and it was a bit devastating.'
On her 30th birthday, Mona binged on chocolate and champagne, before deciding she had to make a positive change.
'I began eating six meals a day - a combination of proteins, carbohydrates and good healthy fats.'

According to Mona, she went from eating chocolate and carbs to 100% natural food, banning processed meals and stabilising her blood sugar.
She also began exercising every other day, combining weight training with cardio, slowly converting fat to muscle.
Over two years Mona went down to 11st and can now fit into size 10 clothing.

And not only has Mona's appearance changed, but her career has too. After slimming down, Mona decided she wanted to set up her own personal training business so she could share her success with others.
She now runs functional fitness forever and has fallen in love with new boyfriend Gary Arnold, 38, who she describes as a 'needle in a haystack.'
'I'm grateful to my ex-boyfriend for making that comment, even though it might have been upsetting at the time.'
'If he hadn't told me, I might not have known that was the reason, and I might not have been set down the path I've been on.'
Either way, we think Mona is having the last laugh on this one!
