It’s been claimed that parts of Britain could see up to a month’s worth of rain today.

According to weather experts, over 2 inches of rain could fall in certain areas and the Met Office has issued a yellow warning.

The rain will bring with it gail force winds or up to 50mph, and it’s thought that London and the South East will be hit the hardest.

Chris Burton, for the Weather Network, told the Express: “An area of low pressure will track through the English Channel on Friday bringing an area of heavy rain to southern counties.

“Heavy rain will push into south-west England and south Wales on Thursday night before slowly edging eastwards across the rest of southern England through the day on Friday.

“Many places across southern England could see 25-50mm [2ins] of rain with some local thundery downpours perhaps giving higher totals that that in most places.

“That means some places could see a month’s worth or rain in just one day, brining the risk of localised flooding and difficult driving conditions on the road.”

It looks like this downpour could spell the end of summer for the UK, as temperatures have fallen to below average for this time of year and the wetter weather is set to continue into next week.
