UK weather: June nights to be ‘coldest on record’ as summer takes its time

Summer seems to have arrived finally, meaning long days on the beach and longer nights in the beer garden, right?

Well no, actually, because while daytime weather lately has permitted shorts and shades, this month could see the coldest evenings since records began.

Which totally sucks as lazy evenings spent around a barbecue is one of the best things about summer, isn’t it?

The beginning of the month has seen below average nightly temperatures of just over 11C.

“There is an indication that June as a whole may have a below-average temperature. It has been below-average so far away from the South-East,” the Met Office told the Mirror.

In fact, although we’re almost halfway through summer, some places in Northumberland and Aberdeenshire saw actual freezing temperatures.

But at least we’ve got the hotter temperatures of next month to look forward to: the UK could be basking in 33C heat in July.

It’s not all good news, though. The scorching weather will be breaking up frequent wet and thundery spells.
