The north of England and Scotland could see the mercury fall to -9C today, which has caused concerns for safety on the icy roads.
According to the Daily Star, some have predicted the UK could see a repeat of the -12.5C of Easter 2013.
Brian Gaze, of The Weather Outlook, explained: “It will continue feeling raw until an Atlantic pattern arrives into the weekend.”
Breakdown services such as RAC have been getting ready for a flood in call outs.
The spokesman said: “Temperatures have nose-dived and that means more call-outs.
“Flat batteries are the number one problem – with calls from stranded motorists up 30%.”
Gloucester police have been mocked on Twitter, after posting safety advice which some users took quite differently.
They tweeted: “Expired loyalty cards? They are great to keep in the car to scrape your windscreen on a frosty morning.” Attached was a graphic, but many joked that it looked like someone cutting lines of cocaine.
One user joked: “Plus a rolled up twenty?”. Another added: “Wouldn’t the cocaine get stuck on the windscreen?”
