UK weather: Batten down the hatches - there’s a storm a’coming!

People across the UK just enjoyed a gloriously sunny weekend, so you might be forgiven for thinking summer is finally back with a vengeance.

But, as it turns out, all that sunshine was a temporary treat.

Because it’s thunder and lightning all the way for the rest of the week!

Chris Burton, meteorologist at The Weather Network, told Closer Online: “It’s going to be a wet start to the week for some as low pressure with wet weather in southwestern areas of the UK moves east during the day.

“Sharp, thundery showers are also possible in the northwest with some heavier rain clearing Scotland overnight.“

While the weather will dry up, reaching highs of 21-22C in some southern parts of the UK, another storm is scheduled for Wednesday night.

And it’s only set to continue throughout the week.

Chris said: “There will be a lot of cloud around on Thursday, and a risk of thundery showers in the south.

“Through Thursday and Friday those thundery conditions could spread as far as northern England but […] temperatures could reach highs of 22C in the southeast.”

In short, it’s going to be warm - but VERY wet ’n’ wild!

Fingers crossed things pick up over the weekend, yeah?
