While weddings have long been an opportunity to splash the cash and show off your most glamorous or eccentric side, in recent years a new trend for sensational, wacky and extreme proposals has arisen. From Michael Jackson flash mobs to near death experiences, some men will do anything to ensure their leading lady says yes. Here is Closer’s round up of some of the best marriage proposals we’ve ever seen, prepare to laugh, cry and be downright amazed!

Flash mob mania!

If there was a prize for most effort put into a marriage proposal, this guy would win hands down. After gathering hundreds of people – friends and family included – to join in a mass dance in front of his unsuspecting girlfriend, he still managed a tear jerking speech before popping the question. Ahh!

Rooftop romance

This cleverly edited video shot on a rooftop is the epitome of romance! Gathering friends and family and a host of props, there is absolutely no way anyone could say no!

Magic memories

This guy had stroke of genius when he decided to really surprise his girlfriend with the help of a magician friend.

Making the movies jealous

When this video did the rounds, there wasn’t a woman on the planet that wasn’t shouting at her boyfriend to make more of an effort. This adorable guy knew how important it was to his girlfriend that her father gave them his blessing and so, not only did he ask for it, but he decided to make this moving film trailer.

No words needed

Clearly terrified of the prospect of marriage, this loving guy looked to his handy Internet pals to help him out…

Bruno’s your man

If there was ever the perfect proposal, this might just be it. Sitting his girlfriend in the back of a car equipped with headphones, Isaac dubbed his way through the whole of Bruno Mars’ Marry You. It needs to be seen to be believed!

Head over heels – literally

If there was ever a near-certain way to get your partner to say yes to your marriage proposal, it’s to pretend you’ve fallen from the roof of a building mid-proposal which is exactly what this guy did.
