Little Emma Bazzard was alone in her Somerset home with her mum, when pregnant mum Catherine suffered a nasty fall down the stairs.
But the little girl- who was just three at the time, managed to remain calm, saving her unborn sibling’s life.
Having previously listened to her 5-year-old brother discussing how to call the police, Emma did just that, telling operator Sarah Morris that "mummy was not bleeding but banged her head" and "has a baby in her tummy”.
Catherine had in fact ruptured her placenta, and needed urgent care to save her unborn child- who would have arrived seven weeks early.
Luckily Emma remained calm, telling Sarah during an 8 minute call that she would look after her mummy who ‘kept falling asleep’, and informing her the front door was unlocked and the men ‘in the green suits’ had arrived.
Mrs Bazzard, who has since given birth to a healthy little boy, said she was extremely proud of her daughter, who is now aged four.
She added: "We had no idea that Emma could even tell us what street she lived in, let alone the number and the town."
Speaking about the incident Emma’s proud mum said she was "very emotional" to think of what her daughter had to go through, adding:
"Having listened to the audio and hearing how confident she is and how calm she is - it's reassuring to know that she wasn't scared by the situation."
"I came to, to her lying on me and cuddling me and saying, 'Mummy, it's going to be ok’."
"I think she's such a clever, amazing little girl.”
We agree! What an intelligent little girl.
