Darren Kelly, 42, was killed in Basildon after confronting a group of young people - from young teenagers to early twenties in age.
During the confrontation, Kelly sustained stab wounds, staggering to a nearby block of flats to find help.
Tragically, Mr Kelly lost his life at about 9.30PM on Tuesday evening, after being found with serious injuries, and now a young teen has been arrested for his murder.
The 13-year-old, along with three other teens and a 20-year-old were all arrested on suspicion of the crime and are now being questioned by police.
Carole Crisp, whose home Kelly stumbled to after he was stabbed, described the horrific moment she discovered him.
‘I was at home and my buzzer went. I didn’t answer it but it kept going, so I did.
‘He just said: “Help me, I’ve been stabbed.”
‘I ran downstairs and I could see he was hurt and there was blood everywhere. The lady who lives below me s a paramedic, so she came out.
‘I cut the man’s clothes to reveal the wounds and she did what she could until the ambulance came.’
The devastated witness said that Kelly had been stabbed in the side and arm but the assailant(s).
