The bodies of 23-year-old Hannah and Ben, 24, were discovered on a Thai beach in September, with the Burmese migrant workers being arrested shortly after.

UK officials have expressed concern about the investigation into the youngsters’ deaths, though Thai police maintain they have a ‘perfect’ case.

Earlier in October, the two men were forced to re-enact the killings in front of media and police, prompting many to question whether their confessions were genuine or coerced.

On Saturday, British police announced they would travel to Thailand to assist with the murder investigation. They are expected to focus firstly on the claims of mistreatment from the two Burmese men, and also carry out independent checks of DNA samples central to the case.
