Teenager defends breast-feeding mother: “If your baby is hungry, feed him”

Opinions on breast-feeding have been very divided recently, with some people thinking it’s wrong to do it in public and others wondering what all the fuss is about.

There has definitely been an increase in shaming of mother’s who decide to breast feed their child while out and about, with some people even going as far as saying it’s ‘disgusting’.

So mother Julia Wyke’s story might surprise you. She says that she was out shopping with her five-month-old son, when she decided to take a break and head to Starbucks.

While in their, her son started to become restless so she decided to feed him in the coffee house.

Another customer witnessed Julia feeding her son and began to loudly complain about it to the barista. Julia says she could hear the customer telling the barista he needed to stop Julia because it was ‘disgusting”.

When Julia heard the barista reply that he would take care of it, and he began to walk in her direction, she never expected his response.

He didn’t tell her to stop, he didn’t ask her to leave. Instead, he presented Julia with a voucher for a free drink and said: “I’m sorry you had to deal with such unpleasantness today.”

The other customer left the coffee shop in a rage. Later writing on Facebook, Julia said: “My opinion has always been: if your baby is hungry, feed him. It doesn’t matter how or where, just make sure your baby is well fed and happy.”
