Teen charged with murder of 14-month-old baby brother

Following an emergency call to the ambulance service, Santino Balaz, who was of Czech decent, died at Birmingham Children's Hospital on New Year's Day.

West Midlands Police told the Mirror, Tereza Lackova, 19, and Marek Holub, 27, will appear before magistrates in Birmingham later today after being accused of killing Santino.

It was also reported Lackova and Holub, both of Brighton Road, Balsall Heath, Birmingham, were charged with murder last night.

Detective Inspector Justin Spanner, who is investigating the death, told the newspaper: "We are awaiting further tests following a post-mortem.

"Santino was found to have extensive injuries and fractures to several areas of his body.

"West Midlands Police is currently liaising with colleagues in the Czech Republic to trace Santino's mother, who is believed to have returned home in September last year."
