Everyone loves the bottomless glass system at restaurants where you’re able to re-fill your drink at a self-service machine. It means you can drink as much of your favourite soft drink as you like throughout the course of your meal, and you can even try out some new flavours.
But what if not following the re-fill rules meant that you ended up facing time in prison?
That’s the case for one 18-year-old boy who decided to try and get the most out of the machine without paying anything for his soft drink.
Cody Morris from Arkansas, America visited his local McDonalds drive-thru with his two friends and ordered three large cups of water. However, once they were given their cups they reportedly parked the car, threw the water away and entered the restaurant to fill the cups up with a fizzy drink from the machine.
When the manager realised what was happening, he asked the group to return the stolen drinks and although his two accomplices co-operated, Cody refused. The trio then left the McDonalds and reportedly hit the manager with their car as they tried to escape.
Cody was later arrested at a bowling alley and charged with felony robbery, and could be looking at a prison sentence.
People have taken to Twitter to talk about what they think of the serious charges against Cody, with some believing that the teenager should take legal action against McDonalds, and accusing the restaurant chain of ‘ruining his life’.
However, one Twitter user aired his views by commenting on the story with a photo that labels the younger generation ‘spoiled entitled brats’.
Do you think Cody should be sent to prison for stealing? Or are the charges against him too much?
Either way - let that be a lesson to anyone thinking that they can get a sneaky re-fill without paying!
