The alleged remark was made at the North London Collegiate School, which boasts alumni including US Vogue editor Anna Wintour and actress Rachel Weisz.

The father of the girl, who wishes to remain anonymous, told a UK newspaper: “A teacher was passing by and she rushed up to my daughter and said, ‘don’t do that or I’ll have to send you to the back of the queue or to one of your gas chambers.

“It was very unpleasant, very uncalled for and very unfortunate. My daughter was shocked and upset.”

The reported outburst is said to have happened three months ago, and the school has apparently been criticised for not making clear what really happened.

Although refusing to how the situation was dealt with, the school has announced that, following the accusations; ‘appropriate action’ was taken.

The girl’s father added: “My wife and I would also like the school to make a public statement that there had been an incident and [the remark] was totally unacceptable.”

The school is one of the leading independent day schools for girls, and it charges nearly £6,000 per term per student.
