Teacher suspended after claims she taped primary school children’s mouths shut

A teacher has been suspended from a school in Somerset after claims she taped her pupil's mouths shut are revealed

One parent whose child attends Danesfield School in Williton, Somerset, who has chosen to remain nameless, spoke at the school gates to The Mirror about her son's ordeal:

She said: "I was distraught, shocked and traumatised.

"My son sat there quietly. He had Sellotape over his mouth.

"He was really upset last night.

"He was not keen to go to school this morning in case he had to see this teacher again."

The school are said to be "thoroughly investigating" the matter and said it took "all allegations concerning the welfare of our children very seriously".

Executive Headteacher Ian Bradbury of the Quantock Federation said in a statement: "A member of staff has been suspended whilst the investigation continues.

"My thanks to the numerous parents who have brought this matter to my personal attention and have given their on-going support to us in this challenging situation."
