Father-of-one Anthony, who met Iwan on a site designed for over-18s, hanged himself after his girlfriend discovered his secret.

Harding said in court: ‘I created a persona, I just wanted to chat…it was just a bit of fun, there was no breach of trust.’

The schoolteacher added that Anthony was ‘not my pupil’ and therefore there was ‘no duty of care.’

He has since been sacked following a disciplinary hearing.

Harding denied that he sent grossly indecent and obscene messages, including one about having sex in school uniform.

Anthony’s girlfriend Charlotte Mason has just given birth to the couple’s daughter, Lily, when she discovered the messages from men on her boyfriend’s phone.

He went missing after the argument and was later discovered to have committed suicide.
