Mary Kay Letourneau was imprisoned after having sex with her then 12-year-old pupil Vili Fualaau.

She fell pregnant and her husband at the time reported her after discovering a note to Vili.

After being jailed TWICE for sleeping with him, Mary, now 53, lives with Vili, they've been married for 10 years and have two children together.

Mary doesn't think they've been treated fairly by the media

When she was first convicted, Mary spent three months in prison. Upon her release she broke the ban stopping her from seeing Vili and ended up going back to prison for seven years.

Appearing on ABC news, Mary defended her relationship with Vili. She said: "I don't know if enough time will ever pass to take away what the media did to our story. It's not our story."

When Mary returned to prison for her second sentence, Vili was left to care for their children.

He said: "I don't feel like I had the right support or the right help behind me. I mean, my friends couldn't help me because they had no idea what it was like to be a parent, I mean, because we were all 14, 15."

After being released from prison for the second time, the ban was lifted and Mary and Vili were free to start their life together.
