A young student teacher has died after she bravely stepped in to defend two teenage girls who were being harassed by a group of men in a McDonald’s toilet in Germany.

Parents of Tugce Albayrac made the heart-breaking decision to turn-off her life support on Friday after doctors told them she was brain dead and would not regain consciousness.

Tugce was in a coma for two weeks after the attack and it was on her 23rd birthday her parents decided to make this difficult decision.

Tributes have been paid to the German student who intervened to help the girls who cried for help from the restaurant’s bathroom.

Later when Tugce was in the restaurant’s car park one of the men from the group returned to hit her in the head with a baseball bat, knocking her into a coma.

It’s been reported an 18-year-old man identified only as Sanel M, is being held in custody.

Police are appealing for the teenage girls to come forward as witnesses and an autopsy is due today.
