Admit it – we’ve all listened to If You Like Pina Coladas and wondered what would happen if our soulmate did put an advert out for us in the newspaper, and we lived happily ever after.
And even though the newspaper column method of finding true love might be a bit dated, it seems one romantic has taken it upon themselves to go one step further in an attempt to bring the soulmate-searching into the modern day …
Commuters on the 54A bus in Dublin noticed a new sign at the end of the route that hasn’t always been there.
A through-and-through Aretha Franklin fan (the first clue?) has put a huge love note on an antique shop front to declare their love for a stranger.
It reads:
“To the girl on the 54A, white fluffy hat, headphones & beautiful smile …
I run for the bus dear/ While riding I think of us dear/ I say a little prayer for you/ At work I just take time/ And all through my coffee break time/ I say a little prayer for you/ Forever and ever, you’ll stay in my heart/ And I will love you …
Please call me … ”
One woman who was amused by the sign posted a photograph on Twitter, and now the search has begun for the lady in the fluffy hat!
But Maria O’Brien, who is behind the image going viral, isn’t sure whether the gesture is romantic or creepy.
It’s a very brave move from the secret admirer – so we’re hoping that it has a happy ending, rather than some very uncomfortable future bus rides …
