Hope Ain't A Bad Thing by The Neon Brotherhood, the charity single inspired by amazing teenager Stephen Sutton, has sold thousands of copies in less than 48 hours since it was released, according to midweek sales figures from the Official Charts Company.

"One of the things on his bucket list was to have a charity single"

Tom Drover, who played guitar on the track, said: "The idea was hatched when Stephen posted his thumbs up picture.

"We all decided to come together to do something for Stephen [and] one of the things on his bucket list was to have a charity single."

All the profits from the song will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust, whose music relations manager Angie Jenkinson described it as "another testament to his amazing spirit".

She said: "Music was a big part of Stephen's life and is at the heart of Teenage Cancer Trust. A huge thank you to everyone who has bought the single. Stephen's legacy is making an enormous difference to the quality of life of other young people with cancer in this country."

Stephen Sutton, who sadly lost his battle with cancer at the tender age of 19, was diagnosed with bowel cancer when he was 15.

Despite treatment the tumours spread, with doctors telling him the disease was terminal in 2012.

Hundreds of thousands of people have supported his fundraising efforts for the Teenage Cancer Trust after he posted a picture of himself in hospital in April with a goodbye message as he knew he was nearing death.

The amount raised on Stephen's Just Giving page totals £4,192,323 to date.

We hope the inspirational teenager finally finds peace - and our thoughts are with his family.
