According to a leading neurological expert, your favourite faded skinny jeans could be damaging your health.

Dr Thomas Kimber described the case of a 35-year-old Australian woman who became stuck in a pair of skinny jeans after trying to help her friend move house.

The movement of squatting and lifting caused the unnamed woman’s legs to become swollen, with the blame being put on her super-tight skinny jeans.

Dr Kimber told the Sydney Morning Herald: “As she was squatting for a long period of time her trousers restricted the blood supply to both calves, and in response the muscles start to undergo stress and swell.”

The woman had to have her jeans cut off!

The jeans-lover was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where doctors were forced to cut the jeans off her legs.

Dr Kimber continued: “We were certainly surprised and shocked. It was a surprise to us that someone could get such severe nerve and muscle damage from the activity she described. The clothing she was wearing was the critical factor,”

“The take home message is to avoid wearing skinny jeans if you intend to do a job with squatting or kneeling.

“If your legs begin to feel uncomfortable or tingle, you should stand up and get the blood circulating again.”
