Selfless Armani Crews gave up her birthday to help the homeless
When it comes to childhood birthdays, it's important as a parent to go absolutely wild over them and throw parties with all the trimmings.
Most six-year-olds themselves go absolutely nuts, and not many would be able to think about anything other than a huge party and a house bursting with presents and friends by the time their birthday comes around.
But one little girl had other ideas to celebrate her big day.
Armani Crews, from Chicago in the US, was apparently so desperate to help the homeless that she begged her parents "for a few months" to fulfill her wish of feeding people who slept rough.
Her mother, Artesha, told ABC News that she thought the little girl "was joking", and didn't take it seriously.
But when her partner Antoine told Armani that, if she did this for her birthday, she would not get a birthday present - she still wanted to go ahead with it.
Mum Artesha conceded slightly, and offered to make sandwiched. She told ABC News: "I said, 'OK, we'll make some sandwiches,' to which Armani said, 'No. I want the same thing we'd have at my birthday party'."
The Crews family then spent around $300 on food to give to the local homeless in their nearby East Garfield Park neighbourhood, buying things like chicken, fish, spaghetti, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, pastries, fruit and water.
The selfless six-year-old, whose birthday was March 5, announced her plan at the family's local church, which inspired their community to donate items for care packages.
The care packages were put together, each one containing a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hand sanitizer and a snack, such as a granola bar.
The part went down an absolute storm, and the family were able to provide for more than 125 homeless people who turned up to the party.
Little Armani said to ABC News: "It was nice to be nice," with her mother adding: "She was excited. She was happy. Everybody was being fed. One of the gentleman said he hadn't had a hot meal in a long time."
The family are even planning another community meal, with Artesha saying that they plan to return to the park "within the next couple of weeks."
Well done, Armani!
