In the footage, the toddler can be seen walking unsteadily on the running machine - which is not recommended for young children.

Uploaded to site Ku6, the video also features the toddler's parents laughing in the background, with the Dad later urging the kid to 'run faster, go faster.'

'Hurry up' the father shouts, as the mother worriedly tells him 'don't make it too fast' before bursting into laughter.

Eventually the dad swoops in and picks up the pjama clad tot from the machine, but not before serious injury could have been caused.

On the Chinese video sharing site the footage is described as 'adorable,' though experts have said what the parents did was actually highly dangerous.

Health website LiveStrong says that children risk lacerations, fractures and amputations if they are allowed to use a treadmill - as they will struggle to keep up with the high speeds.
