Children should, as many parents know, always be supervised around escalators.
And a new video has made that point clearer than ever.
Security cameras at a Chinese shopping centre have caught the moment a two-year-old boy played with an escalator handrail.
After just a few moments, he was lifted up and carried along with the movement of the handrail, before plummeting from the top of the escalator to the floor below.
According to Live Leak, the little boy fell two storeys, leaving shoppers on the ground floor stunned.
Within moments, a man - believed to be the little boy’s father - can be seen abandoning his shopping and rushing down the escalator to check on the little boy.
While he was injured in the accident, it has now been reported that the child is now recovering from his accident in hospital.
Live Leak reports: "The toddler is now recovering, after several days of life-saving efforts."
Experts have again insisted that parents hold their child’s hand whilst on an escalator, so that they can be guided on and off of the moving stairway.
They have also advised that you ask your child to stand still and forward, as well as ensure that you check their clothing for any loose items which could become caught.
