The child’s mother can be seen on CCTV clambering onto the train line to rescue the child, making it back up onto the platform with just ‘seconds to spare’.
The family left the station following the incident on July 23, leaving London Underground workers worried for their safety, fearing that the child or their mother may have been injured.
Police are now asking any witnesses to come forward.
The British Transport Police released a statement on the incident, reading: “This was a frightening incident, not just for the scale of the danger the child was exposed to, but also because the woman then put her own life on the line by going onto the tracks.
“We urgently need to identify the people involved to ensure the child wasn't injured as a result of the fall onto the tracks.
