One walker was left shocked after coming across the shark while on her morning walk in Hornsea, East Yorkshire.

Nikki Miller was taking a stroll with her springer spaniel when she found the large creature just out of the waves, describing its teeth as ‘formidable.’

After reporting her find, authorities seem to have identified the shark as a young porbeagle - which are commonly found in UK waters.

Despite its size, porbeagle sharks are not thought to be dangerous to humans - and are just one of the many species of sharks found off the coast of Britain.

Andrew McLeod, Assistant Curator at The Deep, admits it is unusual for the shark to be found on our shores, though they do tend to travel past us during the summer months,

‘They tend to migrate further south during cold months. It is quite unusual for them to wash up on the shores though,’ said the expert.

No need to close the beaches just yet then....
